We’re delighted to share that Spoons received a nod in the 2023 Slaight Family Polaris Heritage Prize. The Heritage Prize, a critics’ prize and public polling campaign, celebrates classic Canadian albums that predate Polaris’ establishment in 2006.

Spoons’ Arias & Symphonies, released by Ready Records in 1982, was nominated in October alongside iconic albums by k-os, Sarah McLachlan, and The Guess Who. While albums by Maestro Fresh Wes and Skinny Puppy ultimately won this year’s Heritage Prize, the nomination of Arias & Symphonies is a testament to Spoons’ lasting impact on the Canadian musical landscape.

We also applaud the Polaris Heritage Prize for their great work in promoting all these timeless gems to new audiences. This represents a true commitment to showcasing the enduring legacy of exceptional music. It’s wonderful to see Arias & Symphonies continue to receive high-profile recognition and reach new ears more than 40 years after its release.
